Alternative Richlite® Finishes
You may choose to finish Richlite® with mineral oils or you may leave the surface as is without adding a finish so it looks the way it arrived from the factory with a more industrial appeal. If the surface is finished with mineral oil or is unfinished, additional upkeep may be required to maintain the look but the integrity of the product will not be affected.
Surfaces finished with mineral oil may show water rings and splash marks. These can easily be rubbed out with a damp cloth. Soap and water or light household cleaning solutions will remove the marks but may also remove the mineral oil. An occasional reapplication of mineral oil will bring a consistent look back to the countertop. Over time, there will be less and less need to continue to reapply the oil.
Unfinished Richlite® is sanitary and maintains all the qualities of the sealed product but may require more attention to keep clean. Some individual users of Richlite® Surface enjoy the manner in which the surface takes on a seasoned look, displaying the assorted task areas within the kitchen. This authentic appearance can add charm and warmth to the feeling of kitchens. Several Richlite® customers who chose this look prefer the raw, industrial appeal of the material, but for those who prefer a longer-term, classic look, a sealed countertop may be more appropriate.
